Have you been tasked with planning the perfect hen do, and you have no idea where to start? You’re in luck because we’ve created a list of six ideas you and the gals can do in Amsterdam to make this hen do weekend one to remember!
I’ll be the first to admit that we’re a little biased. That said, a boudoir session is a great way to start out your hen weekend! It’ll get everyone in a sexy hen do mindset, have you bonding as a group, and get you ready for a weekend of debauchery. We recommend you do the photoshoot at the beginning before you have any nights out because if you plan the weekend right, you should be looking rougher at the end of it. Do note that you have to book the photoshoot in advance.
Is a stripper too cliché? Well, consider a creative take on tasteful nudity by signing up for a life drawing session specifically for hen parties! There are multiple options in Amsterdam, and make sure that they provide all the drawing supplies, a nude model, and an instructor.
The nightlife in Amsterdam is hard to beat. If you’re looking for an adventurous take on a bar, check out Xtracold Icebar. You are given jackets that look like they’re shipped from Antarctica and made to traverse your way into the ice room where even your cups are made of ice. Heads up, you do need to purchase tickets for this bar, and three drinks are included.
If you’re looking for more low key hen weekend ideas, we recommend the Canvas rooftop bar. It is a wonderful stop atop the Volkshotel that will give you a great view of the city. The drinks are delicious and surprisingly priced pretty low. If you need last minute hen party ideas, we recommend Club Mystique or Escape Amsterdam. However, if dancing is your thing, Club Mystique is a great spot for salsa and bachata! Escape Amsterdam is your place for a giant party in the middle of the city.
Sleep in! Don’t feel like you have to cram everything into this one weekend. Debauchery means excessive indulgence, and you’re not indulging yourself if you feel like shit. Our main advice for breakfast (And who says that can’t be at 1pm?) is to skip the English breakfast. Most places offering this are just looking to overcharge tourists, and you can get way better for way cheaper back home. Amsterdam does great coffee, pancakes, and pastries. Our personal favorite for pastries and coffee in the city center is Melly’s Cookies Bar over by Dam Square.
Need an excuse to go day drinking? Look no further than chartering a party boat. There are plenty of options all throughout Amsterdam, and most include an open bar. As with most recommendations on this list, it’s best to book your tickets in advance.
Our final suggestion is pretty unorthodox, but we think that a good hen weekend should get you out of your comfort zone. Nyotaimori or Nantaimori is the Japanese art of naked sushi. Sushi is laid out on the body of a model lying on a table. It’s a unique way to go out for dinner. There are multiple reputable options in Amsterdam, and make sure that wherever you choose takes hygiene seriously. It’s also extremely important to be respectful to the model during the meal.
Remember to pace yourselves, and consume responsibly. Have loads of fun, but don’t forget to make it back (mostly) in one piece for the wedding!

Amsterdam's favorite boudoir team, we moved to Amsterdam from the States to give our kids a safer environment. We love traveling, hiking, and American football (Roll Tide). In our spare time you can find us cozy in a cafe with a good book or backpacking through some remote country, you just never know.
